Setting priorities
Clichés were once considered insights; they shouldn't be ignored. 'Don't re-invent the wheel' comes to mind. We helped a mid-sized pharmaceutical company set their internal and external innovation priorities by discovering and applying key lessons from within and beyond the pharmaceutical industry.

Uncovering hidden value
Sometimes valuing a pipeline drug requires more than estimating how many patients will use it given label, price and competition assumptions. Sometimes it requires an entriely new way of thinking. We assisted a client who is creating a personalized medicine strategy for a drug that didn't fit into a traditional one-size-fits-all marketing paradigm.
Modeling to improve processes
As the above quote from Christensen and Raynor suggests, we believe that successful innovation is largely a predictable, if complex, process network. Intuition alone is not enough to grasp this complexity. In collaboration with Ventana Systems, we applied advanced system dynamics models to identify R&D process constraints for one of the world's most-admired drug companies.
Innovators have taken to using the Citizens Petition to delay generic entry in the U.S. We helped a major generics maker to fend off innovators in a highly publicized battle.
Expanding your reach
Growth comes in a variety of flavors. Majors fight over clinical-stage development deals to fill their pipelines. This creates opportunities for smaller firms to find bargains at the end of the lifecycle. We've helped specialty firms identify and value such niche opportunities.
